The Tonwerk Lausen Ost site, right next to the newly relocated railway station, is being transformed from an outdated commercial area into a bustling residential and business hub.
With eleven planned building areas along Bahnhofstrasse and protected green spaces, this project couples modern architecture with urban living and optimal public transport connections.
Green oasis and urban lifestyle
As part of the project at the Tonwerk Lausen Ost site, developed by Mettler Entwickler AG, the construction work was defined by eleven strategically placed building areas. By positioning the eleven apartment blocks at the edges of the site, Mettler Entwickler AG has succeeded in creating a harmonious, sheltered space for green areas, which significantly enhances the quality of life for residents.
Masterpiece of the city skyline
Along Bahnhofstrasse, the expertise of Mettler Entwickler AG is evident in the skilful arrangement of the buildings with varying heights, crowned by a striking six-storey structure at the southern end. This structure not only creates a visual link to the village centre, but also forms an impressive architectural point of interest that contrasts with the existing Tonwerk factory building. The decreasing building height towards the east and north reflects the well thought-out design and the aspiration to create a balanced, aesthetic skyline.
Architectural diversity
In order to avoid a tunnel effect along the streets, a linear alignment was deliberately avoided when designing the building areas. This design ensures an open and inviting streetscape. In certain sections, particularly in building areas A, F and G, the difference in the number of storeys created an architectural transparency that loosens up the overall appearance of the site and ensures visual diversity.
