«Salmenpark 2» residential development

In the centre of Rheinfelden, Mettler Entwickler AG transformed the «Salmenpark» site into an architectural masterpiece, shaped by its idyllic Rhine location.

Following a competition in 2004 and the subsequent development by atelier ww Architekten SIA AG and Dachtler Partner Architekten AG, Mettler took on leadership of the project in 2017. With foresight and expertise, the team expanded the project to 132 rental apartments, with Swiss Life joining as a partner in 2018 to successfully complete the multifaceted residential and commercial project.

The residential development in two phases

The impressive «Salmenpark» project was developed in two phases. Under the direction of atelier ww, the first phase saw the construction of a diverse mix of office and commercial space, a modern retirement and care home and various apartments, which were completed at the end of 2016. Inspired by the success of the first phase, a further competition followed, which was won by Dachtler Partner Architekten AG. They took the vision further and designed the second construction phase with four buildings and a total of 96 apartments, the plans for which were approved at the end of 2016.

Views of the Rhine just a stone’s throw from the old town

The aesthetic location on the Rhine provided all the inspiration needed for the design of what is now the Salmenpark development. For the development on the Cardinal site, the aim was to create a distinctive character that harmoniously combines both the unique riverside location and the connection to the historic old town.

Dream living with versatile options

In summer 2017, Mettler Entwickler AG acquired the existing project, including the plot, and gave the work a new direction. The result is an impressive residential project that boasts a diverse range of 1½ to 4½ room properties.

Unique spaces

The spaces created in Salmenpark are truly unique, as the development connects the river landscape to the urban space. The central Salmenplatz functions as a lively meeting place and the buildings extend to the embankment wall on the Rhine.

Our vision for Salmenpark was to create a unique place that connects the natural beauty of the Rhine landscape with the vibrant energy of the city. With our hard work and a team of outstanding architects, together we have created a place where people enjoy living, working and socialising. Salmenpark is not just a residential and commercial complex, but a vibrant part of the community.
