«VIERFELD» residential and commercial development
In 2011, a significant land transfer was completed in Pratteln. Häring & Co. AG and Coop Immobilien AG sold two plots of land, which together cover an area of 25,000 square metres.
The site, an extensive area measuring around 200 x 125 metres, is located between Schlosstrasse and Gottesackerstrasse. At the end of the same year, Mettler Entwickler AG took over this vast plot in co-operation with two end investors.
In January 2013, demolition work began on the former Häring & Co. AG site, with construction work on the ambitious building project in Pratteln kicking off in the summer of the same year. By 2016, a lively residential and commercial district had developed here, with six buildings spanning four construction sites, accommodating 310 apartments and an area of some 9,000 square metres for sales and service companies. The name VIERFELD («field of four») is based on the division of the area into the four segments A, B, C and D, which formed the cornerstone of the project.

Building plot A
Some 44 exclusive and barrier-free apartments with 2½ to 3½ rooms and around 700 square metres of office space have been built on the former Coop site. In addition, a modern residential and care home run by Senevita AG has been established on this site, offering 48 care places and 45 age-friendly apartments to meet the needs of an elderly population.
Building plot B and C
Under the direction of the Migros pension fund, around 100 apartments with 2½ to 4½ rooms and 1,700 square metres of space for services were built. These buildings are certified to the Minergie standard, which underlines their high energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Building plot D
«Helvetia Tower», a striking 75-metre-high structure built by Helvetia Insurance, has become a striking landmark in Pratteln. Inside, there are 124 attractively designed apartments with 2½ to 5½ rooms, offering impressive views over Pratteln and the Rhine. In addition, the three-storey base area of the tower provides space for service businesses to enrich urban life.

During the development of the project, we faced unique challenges that placed both technical and creative demands on us as a team at Mettler Entwickler AG. The coordination of the extensive demolition work and the subsequent new construction on a former industrial site required a high degree of planning and precision. It was particularly challenging to realise a diverse mix of housing, commercial space and social facilities, while at the same time ensuring sustainable development that had community at its heart. Our aim was to create a dynamic neighbourhood that meets both the needs of the residents and the requirements of a modern urban area.
